‘Getting Married Today’ from the New York Philharmonic Concert’s production of Company (April 2011)
So glad this is finally on YouTube. Katie Finneran did an excellent job with this number.
Also: Christina Hendricks in a slip, Anika Noni Rose’s rendition of ‘Another Hundred People’ which I actually enjoy despite the flaws, and of course Patti LuPone.
Posting Patti LuPone performing ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ because of reasons.
Also, did you know, within two hours of meeting Kelsey for the first time in person we were sitting in a cinema fangirling (and analysing) over a screening of this production? Memories.
Veanne Cox sings ’Not Getting Married Today’ in the 1995 Broadway Revival of Company
This is my favourite recorded version of ‘Not Getting Married Today’. Her diction and enunciation is incredible. I think Katie Finneran probably did a better job in the New York Philharmonic production last year but that is yet to be recorded officially.
I plan to buy this recording ASAP. It also stars Boyd Gaines and Jane Krakowski.
Every day this isn’t on DVD/CD, I cry a little bit inside. But then I cheer up because I at least got to see it in the cinemas, in America, with Kelsey and American snacks.
This was the video that really made me take notice of Sondheim. I loved how the complexity and wit of the scene still comes through performed by these slightly mediocre students (except for the girl playing Amy - his creepy little face when she starts singing is so precious) and I also admire him for being very exacting about how his music should be performed (like pronunciation and who people should be addressing etc.).
AND CAN I JUST MENTION HIS FACE AGAIN
Brilliant. Also someone please bring SondheimCreepyFace.gif into existence. Thank-you in advance.
Just by the way…
Casually reblogging myself.
Can we talk about how this needs to be released on dvd or something?
ALI CAN WE JUST SIT IN AWE OF THIS PICTURE FOR A MOMENT.
Remember than time I said “Oh my” and almost stopped breathing while in public. Yeah that.

You Could Drive A Person Crazy - Company in Concert (2011)
You know, just watching this on repeat and then watching every other available version to compare them.
Sneak peak of the filmed version of the New York Philharmonic production of Company. (This was my favorite number in the show!)
